Batik is not just an art but a craft. It is a dyeing technique using melted wax that can leave intricate patterns on cloth. First used in Indonesia, this craft has spread all over Asia. We went to a gallery in Georgetown, Malaysia that had a whole floor dedicated to the Batik art with an introductory video to the techniques used by the artists. It was absolutely phenomenal how each artist used the technique to design completely different pieces of art. It was without a doubt Kristan’s favourite ever art gallery (she doesn’t really do them).
