When we stayed in the Cameron Highlands, Kristan and I, with some friends from the hostel, decided to go on a jungle trek to the “mossy forest”. Before the walk we went to a local restaurant for some brekkie and were tailed by the hostel dog, Igloo. After ordering a Grab (Asian Uber) we realised we couldn’t leave Igloo in the middle of town so persuaded the driver to let him come with us. It turned out that our concern wasn’t needed because Igloo set off, leading us through the dense, misty jungle, looking back now and then to check we hadn’t left the path. Hitchhiking back with us, I couldn't help but think what a great life Igloo had, leading jungle treks and roaming semi-wild from the hostel (and especially compared to the edible fate of a lot of dogs in South East Asia).
