Landing in Bangkok with 0 sleep, 0 baht and 0 sense, we left the hostel to explore. We met a lovely guy at a temple who "kindly advised" us we needed to take a tuk-tuk to the tourist information centre to book some activities as, because it was the Chinese school holidays, all buses were selling out fast. We bundled our gullible little backsides into a tuk-tuk and did as the mystery man told us. Rather than buying bus we were bullied into buying an wildly overpriced elephant sanctuary expedition that was most definitely not as ethical as they made it out to be. We left in silence, head bowed, tail between our legs, knowing full well we had just been fleeced and feeling like there was jackshit we could’ve done about it. Welcome to Thailand.
