Siquijor Sunset

Without a doubt the small island is Siquijor, in the Philippines, had the most spectacular sunsets we saw while away. During one sunset we met a guy who made rings out of euros, he spoke about his time in a Filipino prison and showed us a puzzle game which just seemed impossible to crack. It had us fixated. But the more drinks that flowed the more suspicious I became of the guy as he was asking questions about our bikes, phone service and trying to get us to drink quicker than even we normally do. I guess anxiety got the better of me and we left. I now flit between the thoughts of either we escaped before something hairy happened or we missed out on a perfect opportunity to get to know a local and get a deeper understanding of their culture. I think travelling can be a bit like that at times, but as a woman I've learnt to listen to those gut feelings and you cant put a price on safety.. I wonder what you would have thought, missing out or a lucky escape?
